2 October

Lovely meeting last week!  And a lot of business was covered.

2 quilts to be raffled have been given to Concord rotary for the fashion parade they are organising in conjunction with Gayle's Boutique on 25 October.  Proceeds will be donated to support the Parkinson's  Disease Centre, Concord Hospital.

Some time ago we donated a quilt for the Chiswick Manor Art Show.  We have received notice that this quilt raised $250.

Since last meeting, we made a donation to Grace's Place and the Dandelion Network.

One of our members attended a meeting of the Concord Rotary and spoke of what we do. Her talk was well received and the Rotarians were impressed by our productivity.

There were a lot of quilts and crocheted items brought in today.

First up are 5 quilts made by our friends Robyn and Mary who donate to us regularly.  Thank you ladies!

The rest were made by our members.  A lovely spread.

And here are the woollens:

See you soon!

Thursday 7th August.

Our meeting last week was lovely.  Almost everyone was able to come, so a packed house on Thursday.

Since our last meeting we made a delivery to Grace's Place.  It is a place we have only recently begun supporting and is a trauma recovery centre for children affected by homicide.  You can click on the link if you would like to know more about the organisation.

One of our members reported a conversation with a neighbour, whose daughter is a volunteer at the Concord Palliative Care Unit, where many of our quilts go.  This lady said that "the joy that the quilts bring to patients make her cry".  Isn't that lovely?  Makes all the hard work of making a quilt worthwhile when you hear something like that.

And on that note, here are the wonderful quilts that were brought in this meeting:

There was also a table full of knits and crocheted items.  Shawls, scarves, booties, beanies, a child's cardigan and a handful of flannel baby wraps.

Great work everyone!

Bye for now.  I am away for 5 weeks from next week, so it will be October before you hear from me again.

September

Here we are almost at the next meeting of Stitching Hearts, and I am at last posting about the previous meeting.  Still, late is better than never, or so I tell myself.  Currently having the house painted, and the place is in chaos.  Thankfully only the exterior, but nevertheless, the mess is incredible.

We made two deliveries since the last report.  Grace's Place is doing the most amazing work with support for children who are affected by homicide.  So sad that there is actually a need for that.  Click here to read more about this work.

There was also a delivery of quilts and other items to We Care Connect.   Both organisations are such worthy causes.

We were invited to a Morning Tea of Volunteers put on by Meals on Wheels.  Three of our members attended that, and were each presented with flowers.

We discussed the arrangements for our Christmas party.  Can't believe we are at this time of the year already!  Anyway, our party will be on the 21st November, and that will also be our last day for this year.  So only 3 more meetings!

These were a donation from Toni.  The quilts were quilted by our members:

Next up is a little quilt donated by Cheryl from Friday Quilters.

And this is a donation from Wattle Grove Quilters.  Some lovely intricate work in that.

That's it for today.  See you soon,
