Lockdown Stitching No. 2

Hot on the heels of my last post where I showed you 29 quilts made by the members of Stitching Hearts, I have been advised by our "Chief Central Co-Ordinator" that more quilts have been delivered to our Hub for distribution.

Good news is that Burwood RSL has notified us that they will be making a donation to our group.  Our deepest thanks go to that club for their support.

Since my last update, there have been 24 quilts delivered to Concord Palliative Care Unit.  There is now a batch of 15 children's quilts which have been prepared for delivery to the CWA in Canberra for distribution down there.  We are currently investigating how to deliver them to Canberra.

These last two deliveries bring our total quilts distributed this year to:
·  227 quilts (including 7 large raffle quilts)
·  223 knitted and crocheted items and
·  16 eye masks
A really awesome effort for some challenging times.

And now for some Show and Tell

Here is a fun Puff Quilt.  I had great intentions of making one of those many years ago, but never got around to it.

Here are several tied quilts

And a batch of beanies, scarves and a shawl

The next two are made from blocks that all of the members made earlier this year.  I think these are the last two from that.

Lockdown Stitching

As I mentioned in my previous post, the whole of Greater Sydney is in lockdown due to Covid-19 and has been for over 8 weeks now.  However, for most of us, sewing is what is keeping us sane.  We have arranged for a drop off "hub" where quilts can be dropped off for distribution.  Those that are able to, have made use of this and as a result, Bev will be delivering a bundle of quilts to the Palliative Care Unit at Concord Hospital, possibly today.

The other bit of exciting news is that we were successful in our application for a grant from the City of Canada Bay Council, and also one from the Canterbury-Bankstown Council.  Both of these councils are within our local distribution area, where most of our quilts go.  Such good news as we will be able to replenish our supply of wadding.

Here are some of the delivered to the hub recently.

So good to see that we can still be helping the vulnerable during this stressful time.
