Hello 2026

Happy New Year lovely people.

Last Thursday was the first meeting of Stitching Hearts members for 2026.  It was lovely to catch up with those who came, and those who didn't were sorely missed.

Late last year, we donated some quilts to We Care Connect.  This organisation gave out Christmas parcels to over 4000 children in need in the Central Coast & Hunter regions.

One of our members showed us a photo of a friend in the palliative care unit who had been given one of our quilts.  These quilts give so much pleasure to the recipients!

Several members reported that they had received quilt tops over the Christmas break from friends for our group to complete.  Some have been brought in, but more will be arriving as they are completed.

Here is the quilt parade. Enjoy!

First up is a top donated to us from Dallas B.

This one was made by Karen J's mother:

Robyn donated this:

Look at this great backing for the jungle quilt above.  Couldn't resist showing you that 😉

There were a few knits this week, and the cutest stuffed cat.

That's it folks.  See you next time.....

Last Post for 2025

Hard to believe that we are at the end of 2025!  It seems like just yesterday I was sitting here preparing to post the first blog for 2025.  Although we are meeting again this coming Thursday, that will be a purely social day - our Christmas lunch, so no post from that (I think).

Not as many members were able to come this time, and so there were far fewer quilts for me to showcase.

We made a delivery to Concord Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Three of our members have reported significant donations of quilt tops and fabric from friends and acquaintances.  These will hopefully be completed over the summer break, and brought in early next year.

We decided to use our piggy bank money to donate to Share the Dignity.  To find out more about this charity, click on the link.  We counted the money in the piggy and discovered that we had collected $120.  Not bad considering we emptied the pig mid year.

This first quilt was made by Sue from Friday Quilters:

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break and see you next year.

Second post for October

So Thursday was the day of our last meeting.  We had a nice turn out with 19 quilts and 8 yarn items brought in.

Since last meeting, we made a delivery to the Concord Hospital Palliative Care Unit.  They were nearly out of stock, so were very pleased to receive the quilts.

We have also received a lovely thank you message from the family of a recipient of one of our quilts.  It's always lovely to get feed back from a happy customer.

Here are the quilts which came in.

The first two were made by Lyn from Friday Quilters:

And here are the woolen items.  That rug is so colourful!

Lovely lot of quilts and knits aren't they?  Hopefully they will make the lives of a few people a little bit brighter.
