Good Bye 2023

Well I did say in my last post, that I would not post any more for this year.  But I am a female and I have changed my mind LOL. Rather a lot has happened in the last couple of weeks and since the January post is usually very big, I thought I would do an extra one now.

Firstly, our Christmas party, which we had at the Country Club in Breakfast Point, was fabulous.  We had a terrific view, heaps of good food and laughter.  One of the bonuses of a group like ours is the friendships which develop.

Doesn't that pool make you want to leap in for a swim?  It was a super hot day that day and I for one, could have done with a dip.

Our President (she hates being called that!!) ran over a lot of facts and figures for the year.  I won't bore you with all of them, but the base line is that we donated 380 quilts and 361 miscellaneous items this year (beanies, booties, wraps etc,).  We could not have achieved that without the wonderful support of our sponsors, both the ones who give us cash donations and the quiet ones who work in the background and donate quilts and fabric & wool to us for distribution to those in need.  A big thank you to everyone who has been a part of our organisation this year.

This year we donated to:

Palliative Care Unit, Concord; We Care Connect (Central Coast); St Mary's Villa; Archie's Army (Harden-Murrumburrah); San Miguel Family Centre (Kermond); Mission Australia; Dandelion Network; Chiswick Manor Care Community; Wayside Chapel; Skillshare (Mudgee); Estia; Earthquake victims (Morrocco); 3 individual donation quilts.

We have also made two further drop offs since our party, and here are the photos from these.  First up 10 quilts to Palliative Care:

Elizabeth VDH made the first 3 quilts:

The other drop off was to We Care Connect.  Not many quilts this time, but there were bags and bags of toys and clothes which we had collected in a whip around.  It was very timely, because in addition to their usual support of children in the community, they were packing 2000 food and toy hampers for distribution for Christmas.  The warehouse was packed to the rafters with hampers.  This is just one bay of the toy hampers:

This was our delivery.

And a bundle of kids tee shirts & shorts.

And some bags too

Thank you for your support during the year.  And we wish you a wonderful Christmas.  See you in the New Year.

16th November

Our last meeting was also our last working meeting for 2023.  Hard to believe the year is gone!  Things are ramping up for Christmas, but we are all making time to gather for a Christmas lunch later this week.  No quilts to show then!

We had a bumper crop of quilts turn up this meeting, so get ready for a feast of colour.

One of our supporters is the Trinity Grammar Quilters.  This is a group of mums, and mums of alumni from the school Trinity Grammar, and one of our members has been part of that group since it began in 2005.  Click here or on the name above to read more about the group.

Trinity Grammar Quilters donated a bundle of 14 quilts this month!  Awesome effort ladies, thank you.

If you have been following our posts, you may remember me babbling on about using up some of the fabrics we have stored in the group cupboards.  Some of that fabric has been cut and made up into kits, and the first of these are complete.  You will be seeing a few more over the next months.

One of our members made up a kit; she liked the pattern so much she put this quilt together with her own fabrics, and a bit of a variation to the design.  I love it!

And the next two were kits made up from our children's novelty fabrics.  You would have seen lots of these as they have been coming in a few at a time throughout the year.

And here is a bundle of bags, children's t-shirts and beanies.

'Til next time.....

First November Meeting

Our meeting last week was the second last working meeting for this year.  Hard to believe that it will be time to plan Christmas soon.

Lots of wonderful quilts came in as well as other goodies for us to distribute to those doing it tough.

Quilts included donated ones from two Lyns.  This first one is from Lyn H of Shepparton Quilters, who has made heaps of quilts for us. Thank you Lyn H.

And this one was made by Lyn L from Friday Quilters.

Just take a look at this loaded table of goodies!

Beanies, booties, and bags...

Flannel wraps and more bags...

T-shirts, more flannel wraps and other children's clothing.

Hope you have enjoyed this little lot.

Bye for now,
