16th February

I am going to have to say it again!  Another huge pile of completed quilts came in at our last meeting.  Well done everyone.

We made a delivery to Archie's Army in Harden.  If you have a Facebook account, do go and look for the organisation - a truly worthy cause.  They have posted photos of the quilts donated by our group, and have been very enthusiastic in their response.

And did you know that we have a Facebook page?  Click here if you haven't been to our page, and make sure you like us to get our posts.

The first three quilts here today are a donation by our friend Jackie B.  Absolutely stunning work Jackie, thank you.

These next two are made using Aboriginal prints.  Don't they look good?

We had a challenge over Christmas to use some of the fabrics in our stash tubs.  The next two quilts are part of that challenge.

And some more I Spy quilts.  These have been incredibly popular, and are great fun to make.

And last, but definitely not least, are the woollen goods, including some sweet baby's jackets.

Thanks for visiting, and I'll see you next month.

2nd February

Amazingly there were almost as many completed quilts brought in for this meeting as there were for the first meeting this year.  Brilliant work ladies!

We made a delivery of 13 quilts, and some beanies to We Care Connect on the Central Coast.  They are always very pleased to see us when we arrive loaded up with bags of "stuff".

A couple of weeks ago we had a truly lovely thank you letter from a lady whose mother passed away recently and who had been given one of our quilts by the nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Concord Hospital where she was being cared for.  The lady came to visit today and we were asked if we could divide the quilt we donated into 4 for her 4 daughters who had been very close to their grandmother.  Not a problem!

We also decided to send a few quilts to Archie's Army.  This group delivers quilts to children in need all over the state.  Unfortunately, they are based at Harden which is almost 350km from here, so we decided that it is not feasible to donate there again even though they are a worthy cause.  Several quilts were chosen and will be delivered by one of our members to a contact in Canberra.

As is often the case, we have had some quilts donated.  This first one is from Sue, from Friday Quilters.  She has been a regular donor for some time.

This one has been made from some blocks we had donated.  The ladies at the Monday Quilting Group have completed it for us.

This large, double sized quilt is also donated - a bundle of incomplete blocks, now sewn together and quilted.  Sadly, I cannot tell you where the blocks came from.

A few masculine quilts came in.  Always good to get those!

This was an interesting quilt.  You could be forgiven for thinking it was just one piece of fabric, I certainly did, til I looked a little closer.....

It is made up of an intricate design of two very closely matched colours.  Not an easy pattern to sew at all!

And that's it for today folks.  Enjoy the weekend.
