Winter

Last week was the official start of Winter here in the Southern Hemisphere.  It always astounds me how quickly the weather changes with the start of a new season.  The week before last we had beautiful sunny weather and quite warm, and last week it was still sunny, but decidedly chilly.  Our woolies will be very gratefully received I should think.

You might remember me mentioning that we donated a quilt to a Biggest Morning Tea event.  It was very well received, and they advised us that together with other items, they raised $14,000 for the Cancer Council.

We have a little Piggy that we use to pop in spare cash each meeting.  The proceeds go to a charity a couple of times a year.  We decided to donate collected funds to Street Side Medics who provide a mobile medical service to homeless.

A delivery was made to We Care Connect, which they were delighted to receive.

We had a lovely email from the wife of a man who passed away in the Concord hospital Palliative Care unit in September 2021 and had been a recipient of one of our quilts.  She treasures the quilt given to him so much that it has prompted her to take up quilting!

Meals on Wheels will be having a thank you morning tea shortly, invitation to come soon.

There were 19 quilts brought in this week, and 11 woollen items.

The table with the woollen items included a super cute Mrs Kangaroo, complete with a baby in her pouch.  Isn't she gorgeous?

And a jumper for a child

This quilt was donated by Cheryl from Friday Quilters

I love this!  I am not sure who made it, but she must have bags and bags of black and white scraps as there have been at least 3 quilts like this already.  I might have to hunt out my black and white fabrics 😄

That's it for today.  'Til next time....
