February 6th

It's almost time for our next meeting and here I am reporting on the last one.  Better late than never I guess. I was away at the time of our last meeting, so that has seriously put me back.

After a bumper first meeting of the year in January, the first February meeting of the year is often quite small, but I have 23 quilts to show you plus a lot of knitted/crocheted items.  Well done ladies.

In the past few weeks we have made deliveries to Concord Palliative Care Unit, Dandelion Network, Keith's Closet, and Meals on Wheels.  All of these were accepted with much gratitude.

We also received a lovely thank you email.  Quoting part of it:

"You all do an amazing job and have put a smile on my parents face, so for that i say thank you kindly."

As with most groups who donate quilts to charities, we don't often get an acknowledgement of our efforts, and when we do, it puts a smile on OUR faces!

Here is the quilt parade.

And all the woolens....

Thanks for popping in, see you next time.

Spring

Last week was the first meeting for September.  Most of our members were at the meeting, and consequently a huge number of quilts were on the floor.  Almost as many quilts which needed to be completed (I don't show those until they are done), as the ones photographed for this post.

Two of the organisations we give quilts to - Allowah and Dandelion Support Network have given us a shout out on their Facebook pages after our last delivery to them.  Do you do Facebook?  Do check out these two great organisations (and our page too!).

Apologies to the makers.  My photography was below standard and I have managed to chop the tops off quite a few quilts.

As usual, quite a few donations to our group from our supporters.  First two quilts are made by Robyn and Mary, who regularly give us quilts.

This one was made by Sue from Friday Quilters.

The next four were made by Toni and completed by our members.

There was a table full of sweet little baby booties, beanies for kids, flannel wraps, and a lovely scrappy shawl.

And lots more quilts.....

Thanks for visiting, and see you next time.

4th April

Unbelievably we are now into the second quarter of this year; and also the start of Autumn.  My favourite time of the year.  Days are still lovely and warm, and the nights are cool.  What is your favourite season?

The Concord Senior Citizens Club have given us a donation of $300, which we are really grateful to have received.  It will be used to purchase more wadding.  The hall in which we meet is also the home of the Concord Senior Citizens Club, and there is also a little museum here too.

We've had a lovely Thank You letter from Dandelion Support Network, for recent donation we have made to them.

Following on from last month's suggestion, we have delivered a raffle quilt to each of 3 local primary schools - North Strathfield, Mortlake and Concord West for their various fund raising events.  We will hear more from these once the events have been held.

We have also set aside a quilt to be delivered to the Brisbane Waters Bridge Club to be raffled at their charity day event.

The big news is that we are now 20 years old as a group!  We had a long discussion on how we could celebrate this, and have decided to reserve the 29th August to celebrate it.

First up today are 3 quilts donated to us from Robyn.  Thank you Robyn for your continued, generous donations.

This next photo does not do justice to this stunning quilt!  It is actually made from 4 fat quarters.  Isn't it brilliant?

I like the stained glass effect of this quilt too.

That's it for now.
