19th June

Very few of our members were able to come to this meeting, and consequently not many completed quilts were brought in.

·       Last meeting we decided to donate the money currently in our piggy bank to Backtrack, who are working in Taree with the recent Flood recovery.  As a result we sent that organisation $70.  We had also decided to give Greg, the owner of CBon Printing, a quilt for his family who have been affected by the flooding in Taree.  CBon have been doing a fantastic job of printing our labels for some years now.

·       We made a delivery to Canterbury Hospital, who sent us a lovely email in appreciation.

·       We also received news that Archies Army is winding down but will accept donations until the end of the year.

Here is the booty from today's meeting:

Bye for now....

Winter is Here!

Winter began officially here in Australia on the 1st June.  And interestingly enough in that week we went from lovely sunny Autumn days of 20C+ to cold wet weather.  How is it where you are?

The cold bleak weather didn't deter our members from turning up last week armed with a whole lot of lovely quilts.

You might remember we donated a quilt for fund raising to the UCA Congregation recently.  They have advised us that the event raised $8000 and $2000 of that was sent to Taree to help with the flood relief.

We also decided to use the money raised so far this year in our piggy bank for the Taree flood victims too.

We had 22 completed quilts come in this meeting:

The first two were donated by Cheryl from Friday Quilters.

And these two were made by Sue from Friday Quilters.

There were some really interesting designs came in.  This one I found intriguing:

With the wintery weather we are having this table load of lovely woolies will be gratefully received, I am sure:

Til next time......

First Day of Spring

We selected 2 quilts to be given to the Concord Rotary club for their end of year fund raiser.

The money donated by our members during the year has been passed on to the appeal for the Lismore flood victims.

A lovely selection of quilts were brought in today.

The first cab off the rank was made by Raelene from Friday Quilters:

The next four were made by the ladies of the Trinity Grammar craft group.  I just love to see the same quilt made by different people.  It's fun to see the different colour choices and the effect that creates.

This is a lovely warm crocheted rug.

And here are the rest of the completed quilts which were brought in.

7 July

We have had word that the quilts we donated to the Lismore area, which has been so badly affected by the floods earlier this year, will be transported to the region by Rotary this month.

If you have followed us for a while, you will know that we put loose change into a money box through the year, to be distributed at the end of the year.  We have made a decision to empty it now and buy food vouchers for the flood victims.

Beanies were dropped off to Mission Australia Homeless Women in North Strathfield.  They are keen for receipt of quilts, so the larger quilts brought in today will be delivered there.

The smaller lap quilts and the knitted rugs, will be sent to Meals on Wheels.

Remember that huge bundle of quilt tops we received from the lovely ladies at Shepparton?  Several, made by Cheryl J have been completed by our members and brought in today.

Also several generously donated by Sue from Friday Quilters:

Here are the rest of the quilts.

There were also some knitted rugs and shawls.

That's us for now.  Hope you have enjoyed the offerings from this meeting.
