September

We agreed that our last meeting for 2022 would be on the 17th November.  We also decided on a date and venue  for the end of year lunch, which will be on Thursday 24th November 2022.

Quilts have been dropped off to Mission Australia who were very appreciative.

A number of children's quilts, tee-shirts and knitted items were delivered to We Care Connect.  The photo below is at their Wyong warehouse.

Our lovely supporters have been generous again!  This first one is from Sue at Friday Quilters

This one was donated by Lou.  Just in case you hadn't noticed, these are fabric strips sewn together in rows.  Some are just a 1/4" wide.  Awesome effort Lou!

You might remember me mentioning a large donation from Shepparton Quilters earlier this year.  This is one from that batch, made by Sue D.

The rest were brought in by our members.

The next two were made up from some blocks which came in with a donation some time ago.  This one has the cutest embroidery on each block.

This one was a bunch of blocks which had been appliqued to the background.  Each block has tiny enhancements - bees on the bee hive; apples in the tree, lady bugs in the shrubs and loads of ribbon flowers.  It is stunning!

These two are simple throws made with commercially quilted fabric.

Thanks for visiting, and see you next month.

Big Day Today

We had a big day at our last meeting with lots of gorgeous quilts coming in.

First part of the day was as always, lunch and the business bit.

Quilts selected at the last meeting for delivery to Meals on Wheels, the Women's Refuge at North Strathfield, We Care Connect and Dandelion, have all been delivered and have been gratefully received.

We have received invitations to the presentation night at Canada Bay Council and the Rotary fund raising event.  We will send a representative from our group to both.

The first two quilts are donations from Shepparton Quilters and completed by our members.

This one was made by Jan D

And this one by Lynn H

This one was one of two made from a kit donated to us by Susan U from Queensland

And this one was from our friend Sue E. from Friday Quilters.

All of the rest of the quilts were made by our members.

Did you happen to think that was a print on the border fabric in the photo above?  Well if you did, you were wrong!  It is hand embroidery in a style called Sashiko.  Here is a close up of the embroidered border.

And as always there were a couple of crocheted shawls and the sweetest little pink baby jacket.

Bye for now, and thanks for visiting.

7 July

We have had word that the quilts we donated to the Lismore area, which has been so badly affected by the floods earlier this year, will be transported to the region by Rotary this month.

If you have followed us for a while, you will know that we put loose change into a money box through the year, to be distributed at the end of the year.  We have made a decision to empty it now and buy food vouchers for the flood victims.

Beanies were dropped off to Mission Australia Homeless Women in North Strathfield.  They are keen for receipt of quilts, so the larger quilts brought in today will be delivered there.

The smaller lap quilts and the knitted rugs, will be sent to Meals on Wheels.

Remember that huge bundle of quilt tops we received from the lovely ladies at Shepparton?  Several, made by Cheryl J have been completed by our members and brought in today.

Also several generously donated by Sue from Friday Quilters:

Here are the rest of the quilts.

There were also some knitted rugs and shawls.

That's us for now.  Hope you have enjoyed the offerings from this meeting.
