19th June

Very few of our members were able to come to this meeting, and consequently not many completed quilts were brought in.

·       Last meeting we decided to donate the money currently in our piggy bank to Backtrack, who are working in Taree with the recent Flood recovery.  As a result we sent that organisation $70.  We had also decided to give Greg, the owner of CBon Printing, a quilt for his family who have been affected by the flooding in Taree.  CBon have been doing a fantastic job of printing our labels for some years now.

·       We made a delivery to Canterbury Hospital, who sent us a lovely email in appreciation.

·       We also received news that Archies Army is winding down but will accept donations until the end of the year.

Here is the booty from today's meeting:

Bye for now....

1st October

Jan & Dasha reported that 11 quilts had been taken to Kara Women’s & Children's refuge, together with booties and baby flannel wraps.  And 12 lap quilts were taken to Elsie's Retreat, the new Palliative Care Unit at Gosford Hospital.  Both organisations were appreciative.

Roslyn has picked up 1000 more labels from the fabulous crew at CBon Screen Printing.

We have had news that we have a new sponsor!!  Club Five Dock RSL has been generous in providing us with a Community Grant.  Woo Hoo!  This will allow us to purchase some more rolls of wadding, which of course means more quilts can be made.

I will open the show and tell with an absolutely gorgeous quilt made by Betty from Shepparton Quilters:

The cute little booties were made by Robin's friend from QuiltNSW, Cathy W.

This School House block quilt was made from blocks made by several members of the group (sorry, I am not sure who participated - it was rather a long time ago).  Completed by Dasha and quilted by Robin.

What a fun kid's quilt this is!

Bye for now.

Second Meeting for September

Most of our members were at the meeting again, so much chatter at the lunch table!

During the week I came across a lovely article about our group written by Concord Rotary in their Newsletter for August.  If you are interested in reading it, you will find it by clicking here. The article itself is on page 3 and has photos of a couple of quilts we donated for their fundraising events.

We also have a new supply of labels, thanks to the fabulous team at CBon Screen Printing.  You can click on the link to see what they do.  Thanks guys!!

We have all been sewing up a storm these past few weeks and the results are awesome.  Here are some photos of the floor at the hall covered in quilts.  Some aren't complete, so they will feature in future posts.

The next two were made by Robin's friend Maralyn and donated to the group.

The next three are made with fun novelty prints.  The first is a circus theme:

This one is a toy shop....

And here is a bundle of cats.....

Next two photos are of little flannel baby wraps.

And this one has dozens of appliqued birds on it. (and a little kitty - can you spot it?)

Last, but not least, a bunch of beanies, and some cute little baby booties.

That's the lot for today.  Come visit us again.
