April Fool

I have always wanted to say that!! Ha ha.  The meeting was no joke though.

A quilt has been delivered to St Patrick's Church, Mortlake to be raffled at a dinner on the 30th April as a fund raiser for a disabled car for one of the parishioners.

A couple of members have made up eye masks which will be going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

15 quilts, 3 beanies and 9 scarves were taken to St Mary's Villa last week.  We hadn't given them quilts for a while and this lot were received very enthusiastically.  We decided we should give them some more as they become available.

We decided that we should give some more quilts to Kara Women's and Children's Shelter at Gosford, so 6 adult quilts were selected to be delivered next week.

As our meeting happened to be on the day before Easter, our lovely member Bev, who bakes for us almost every time we meet presented us with these gorgeous cupcakes.  Isn't she a gem?

The first quilt today was made by our friend Sue from Friday Quilters:

You could be forgiven for thinking that I was batty and am showing you 2 photos of the same quilt.  But look closely and you'll see that they are different.

And here are the last 3 (I think) quilts made from the blocks we all made earlier this year.

That's all for now.  See you next time.

Last Meeting for 2020

Well not quite. Our last meeting will be our Christmas Party so it will be purely social, and I will be unlikely to post anything.

Throughout this year we have been filling up a piggy bank with loose change.  Maria has counted that, and we have $200 to donate to a charity.  After much discussion we decided to support the organisation Soldier On.  This organisation supports members of the Defence Force through Health and Wellbeing services, Employment programs, Learning opportunities, and Participation activities.

The completed quilts brought in today will be delivered to Kara Women and Children's Shelter in Gosford.

Our little band of Helper Elves have been hard at work again!

The first three quilts were made by Sue from Friday Quilters:

Next is a quilt from Lynn, from Shepparton Quilters:

These are flannel wraps for babies:

A bundle of beanies & scarves, & some cute baby booties.

Well, that is it for 2020.  Have a wonderful Christmas, and see you in mid-January.  Thank you for following on and your encouraging comments this year, they are much appreciated.

1st October

Jan & Dasha reported that 11 quilts had been taken to Kara Women’s & Children's refuge, together with booties and baby flannel wraps.  And 12 lap quilts were taken to Elsie's Retreat, the new Palliative Care Unit at Gosford Hospital.  Both organisations were appreciative.

Roslyn has picked up 1000 more labels from the fabulous crew at CBon Screen Printing.

We have had news that we have a new sponsor!!  Club Five Dock RSL has been generous in providing us with a Community Grant.  Woo Hoo!  This will allow us to purchase some more rolls of wadding, which of course means more quilts can be made.

I will open the show and tell with an absolutely gorgeous quilt made by Betty from Shepparton Quilters:

The cute little booties were made by Robin's friend from QuiltNSW, Cathy W.

This School House block quilt was made from blocks made by several members of the group (sorry, I am not sure who participated - it was rather a long time ago).  Completed by Dasha and quilted by Robin.

What a fun kid's quilt this is!

Bye for now.
