4th April

Unbelievably we are now into the second quarter of this year; and also the start of Autumn.  My favourite time of the year.  Days are still lovely and warm, and the nights are cool.  What is your favourite season?

The Concord Senior Citizens Club have given us a donation of $300, which we are really grateful to have received.  It will be used to purchase more wadding.  The hall in which we meet is also the home of the Concord Senior Citizens Club, and there is also a little museum here too.

We've had a lovely Thank You letter from Dandelion Support Network, for recent donation we have made to them.

Following on from last month's suggestion, we have delivered a raffle quilt to each of 3 local primary schools - North Strathfield, Mortlake and Concord West for their various fund raising events.  We will hear more from these once the events have been held.

We have also set aside a quilt to be delivered to the Brisbane Waters Bridge Club to be raffled at their charity day event.

The big news is that we are now 20 years old as a group!  We had a long discussion on how we could celebrate this, and have decided to reserve the 29th August to celebrate it.

First up today are 3 quilts donated to us from Robyn.  Thank you Robyn for your continued, generous donations.

This next photo does not do justice to this stunning quilt!  It is actually made from 4 fat quarters.  Isn't it brilliant?

I like the stained glass effect of this quilt too.

That's it for now.

6 October

We received a lovely Thank You certificate from the Murray Farm Public School for the 2 quilts we donated earlier this year for their annual Cracker Carnival. The raffle, in which they were included as prizes, raised over $4,500.

Our group has been given a gift of of $100 from the Senior Citizens Club in whose premises we meet, towards our Christmas lunch.  A big thank you for that!

I have been alerted to the fact that email subscribers have not received an email when a post has been published.  on investigation, this is because Blogger has discontinued the link to RSSFeed.  If you are reading this post, and have noticed you are not receiving emails any more, please email me, and I will put you on the manual mailing list until a solution has been found.

Here are the lovely quilts which have been brought in this week.  As is often the case, there are some donated ones again.

This one was donated by the Mystic Mountains Quilters:

The next three were all from the Monday Quilters Group.  Aren't the animals on the first two just adorable!

This one featuring the lovely Toile fabric was donated by Sue from Friday Quilters.

We have attacked the kids' tubs in the stash cupboard and cut loads of 6" squares.  The next two "I spy" quilts are the result:

Bye for now, and thanks for visiting.

17th June

Our last meeting was the middle of June.  Since then we have been in lockdown again, missed one meeting already, and will not be allowed to attend the next one either.  Very sad, but it does mean more sewing time!

Concord Senior Citizen’s Association have made a donation to us of $400 and the Rotary Club of Concord a donation of $1,000.  A big thank you to both of these organisations for their generous donations.  We couldn’t function without the support of our sponsors.

Batul V donated 8 completed quilts to us.  Batul had made contact with our group via our webpage.  Thank you Batul for your generous donation.

Maria’s friend Robyn has donated a quilt.  And Jill’s neighbour Lorraine, some beanies and scarves which will be very welcome at this time of the year. Thank you to these two ladies too.

I have told you before about the collections we make during our meetings. As a result, we donated $110 to SleepyBurrows Wombat Sanctuary last month.   The Sanctuary is situated near Gundaroo, a small village in the NSW Southern Tablelands, about 35 km from Canberra.  The sanctuary cares for sick, injured, illegal pet and orphaned wombats undergoing rehabilitation prior to be released back into the wild.   We received a thank you for that donation with some cute photos included:

Here are the quilts and other goodies brought in today:

See you at the end of Lockdown!  Untill then, stay warm and healthy.

3rd October

Dale Larsen and 2 committee members of the Drummoyne Rotary Club, Lorraine Plant (Treasurer) and Nora Duane (President Elect) came to visit today.  Stitching Hearts has been supported by the Rotary Club for many years, going back to the early years of our little group.  Dale mentioned the Art Show Rotary Club organised in 2008 at which Stitching Hearts was invited to participate.  If you are interested, you can read about that Show here.

Robyn took some quilts to domestic violence, who were very happy with our donation.  Quilts are much appreciated as they bring life and colour to the rooms for the residents of the refuges.  We have been asked for flannel wraps 30 x 30 for Christmas, and for booties, crotched bonnets for babies.

Jeans for genes day thank you letter received for the quilt made by Jan.

Jill took 3 quilts for the Senior Citizens Christmas lunch lucky door prize gifts.
We have had a very generous donation from Susan and Shelly from Pittworth in Queensland, who saw the article published about us in the magazine a year or so back.  These two lovely ladies have made and posted 8 quilts to the group together with lovely letter.  All the quilts need quilting, so you will see them as we complete them.

The Parish of St Paul's, Kincumber have donated some beanies, crocheted lap rugs and a large bag of wool as well.

Here are the completed quilts

The pretty soft colours don't show up too well in the photo, so here is a close up.

These lap rugs and beanies were donated to us by the knitters of the Parish of Kincumber.

The rest are flannel wraps.

These two above, and the last two were made with the cutest fabric!  Love the gingham kitties and the butterflies.
