February 2022

Our second meeting for February was held last week. A good turn out of members for this meeting, and a huge bundle of completed quilt brought in. Our Baker Extraordinaire provided a scrummy afternoon tea too. 😊😊  I haven't mentioned before that's the reason we turn up have I?

All jokes aside, we pulled 3 quilts destined for raffles which will be distributed to the 3 local schools. Hopefully we will have an update on the money raised soon.

We also collected 8 quilts to be donated to St Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit at Auburn.

And now for the fun part - the quilts!  Enjoy.

This first one was made by Sue E from Friday Quilters. Sue is a regular contributor to our group.  Thank you Sue.

That's all for now....

First Face to Face Meeting for 2022

We met for the first time as a group since November last week.  Great to see friends again!

An update on my previous post where I told you we had donated to CWA Canberra.  We have been advised that the quilts will be sent to Roundabout Canberra, who provides safe and clean baby and children's items to families in need through our network of community and not-for-profit organisations.  You can read about them by clicking on their name above.

We selected 9 quilts today to be donated to Dandelion Support Network (click on the link to see more).  We have given quilts before to this organisation, which supports children from families in need, mostly in the south of Sydney.

There was also a delivery of quilts made to Concord Palliative Care Unit, over the summer break.

The first quilt I am showing you is one donated to the group by Sue from Friday Quilters. Thank you Sue!

And here are the rest of the completed quilts brought in to the meeting.

Thanks for visiting today.

A Special Delivery

As I mentioned in my last post, we instigated our previous lockdown way of operating with a central point of drop off until the Centre where we meet reopens.  This has been hugely successful over summer, and the decision was made to make a special delivery to CWA Canberra.  This happened in the last week of January.

We received 21 quilts made and donated by Jacky and Val G,  and quilted by Sue Rowles, a professional long arm quilter from Camperdown.  Awesome effort ladies - a huge thank you!

of these quilts will be retained for possible raffle quilts. The remaining 18 quilts were part of a delivery to CWA Canberra.

These are the 18 quilts:

There were 2 identical to this next one, so I am only showing you one.

And 3 more quilts identical to this one, so I haven't posted them either.

Earlier this year, we were contacted by Effie B. through our Facebook page.  She donated two sweet tops.  These were quilted and have joined the donation to Canberra.

Thank you Effie.  I am sure they will be loved and appreciated.

This lot have been made by our members, and dropped off to our central collection point.

And here is the car - chock a block full of quilts, 31 in total, ready for delivery.

I'll be doing another post soon as we had our first face to face meeting for 2022 last week.
