Mid June

We had a lovely thank you email from the Broken Hill branch of the RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service in case you are unfamiliar with that).  Earlier this year we gave them a quilt for a fundraising raffle. They advised that they had held a ball on the 5th May at the local Civic Centre.  The quilt was sold at a Silent Auction and raised $550.  A great outcome for that.

Deliveries have been made to the Dandelion Support Network, and to the Concord Palliative Care Unit, both of which have been gratefully received.

We agreed to donate 2 children's quilts to two children who are recent refugees, through a contact in a local nursing home.

Some lovely quilts arrived today.  The first 3 are donations to our group by the Monday Quilters:

In a few days time it will be the shortest day of the year here, but there are still probably 2 months of winter left for us.  Is it winter or summer where you are?

Thanks for visiting, and see you next time.

First Day of Winter

Yesterday, our last meeting, was officially the first day of winter here in the southern hemisphere.  I have been slightly envious of all those lovely Spring photos I have seen on social media.  Not a problem though, as our winter weather is usually lovely - cool sunny days, but cold nights.

Our members collected a large bundle of children's clothing which were delivered to We Care Connect.  We were told that May has broken all records with the organisation providing Winter essentials to 292 families with over 600 children.

We also delivered a bundle of quilts to the Dandelion Network, who mentioned us on Instagram.

Some lovely donated quilts were amongst those brought in this week.

The first 2 quilts were donations from Susan U in Queensland:

And this one was made by Sue E from Friday Quilters.

The winter woolies brought in today will be a bonus to those of our recipients who are doing it tough. There were beanies, shawls and a pair of baby booties.

And here are the quilts made by our members.

That's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by and supporting our group.  See you next time.
