March Meeting No. 2

I have been dying to call a post "The Ides of March" for years 😀 but frustratingly I have never quite managed it.  This year is no exception as we met on the 16th.

We had a visitor today - Helen P from the Monday Quilter's Group.  This group is always generous with their donations to us, and Helen brought two quilts from them with her today.  Thank you ladies.

The embroidered panels are from nursery rhymes, and are too cute!  Here is Miss Muffett.

Our friends Mary and Robyn donated 3 pretty quilts to our cause too.

Sue E from Friday Quilters is another generous donor.  This is one of her quilts - thanks Sue!

That's it for today.  Thank you for visiting.

Autumn Already

First of March is nominated as the beginning of Autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere, but you certainly wouldn't know it.  Today, as I write this, the forecast is for +38C!

Our last meeting was great fun.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it and there was lots of chat and laughter.  And some work of course.

We have been approached by the Rotary Club of Sydney with a request for a raffle quilt.  We haven't supported them before, but we do support a couple of local Rotary clubs, so we agreed to give them 2 quilts.

Great feedback received from two children's organisations we support - Archie's Army and We Care Connect.  Getting quilts to Archie's Army is difficult as they are based in Harden, 4 hours by road from Sydney, but we will continue to provide a few quilts now and then when we can get them to Harden.

Our first quilt is from Effie, who has donated to us before and now sews with the Monday Quilters

I generally show the knitteds first, but just in case you don't think they are an important part of our work, here they are at the top of the post!

Thanks for visiting.

16th February

I am going to have to say it again!  Another huge pile of completed quilts came in at our last meeting.  Well done everyone.

We made a delivery to Archie's Army in Harden.  If you have a Facebook account, do go and look for the organisation - a truly worthy cause.  They have posted photos of the quilts donated by our group, and have been very enthusiastic in their response.

And did you know that we have a Facebook page?  Click here if you haven't been to our page, and make sure you like us to get our posts.

The first three quilts here today are a donation by our friend Jackie B.  Absolutely stunning work Jackie, thank you.

These next two are made using Aboriginal prints.  Don't they look good?

We had a challenge over Christmas to use some of the fabrics in our stash tubs.  The next two quilts are part of that challenge.

And some more I Spy quilts.  These have been incredibly popular, and are great fun to make.

And last, but definitely not least, are the woollen goods, including some sweet baby's jackets.

Thanks for visiting, and I'll see you next month.
