Running Late

This afternoon I thought I should get a wriggle on and do a post for the last meeting, since the next one is tomorrow!  I didn't go to that meeting and Lesley very ably took the photos for me, and sent them through to me ages ago, so its not her fault!

Certificate and letter of appreciation received from Barnado’s for the quilts delivered to them last month.

Dale Larson, of Drummoyne Rotary, advised that the 3 quilts we donated for their Christmas in July event held to raise drought relief funds for the Parkes community, raised over $10,000 on the night.

Colleen and Bev took a bundle of adult beanies and scarves to be distributed to the Concord Hospital Palliative care unit.

There were heaps of lovely quilts came in this meeting.  Here they are in no particular order:

Ann made a couple of little baby wraps:

Roslyn brought in some baby wraps made by her group, the Wattlegrove Quilters:

Helen made 2 baby wraps:

and some crocheted scarves and beanies.

Jill made the next two quilts...

Maria brought in 2 quilts made by her friends.  The first one was made by Robyn and Mary:

And this one is by Mary.

I don't think Cheryl sleeps!  She brought in 5 quilts she made:

Besides that, she quilted this quilt made by Anne.

These two quilts were made by the ladies of the Trinity Grammar school craft group and Evelyn quilted them.

So that is it for now.  I promise I won't be slack, and I'll do the post for tomorrow's meeting promptly!

18th July

Well I seem to have mislaid my notes on this meeting, so I am doing it from memory.  If I have allocated a quilt to the wrong person, or forgotten something, please do feel free to tell me!

Thank you email and letter received from Katie Matthews from Legacy. She has also invited any of us who would like to go to the Legatee’s lunch which is held at their head office in York Street at 11.30 every Thursday.
Helen took raffle quilt for Leichhardt Seniors as they are currently raising money for the Farmer’s Drought Relief Fund.

Colleen has taken the 20 single quilts for Yaralla Women’s Refuge to be given to Tania Chahoud to be passed on.
Dasha and Jan took 18 quilts, 11 flannel baby wraps and a bundle of 24 beanies to Barnardos at Wyong.  They deal with children in crisis care, so have a huge turn over of children, and were thrilled with this bundle.

Robin brought in a huge donation of lovely fabric given to us by Melinda, Amanda Daly and Sandra Lyons. Besides that, Linda Butcher has given us a generous voucher from Craft Deppot.  We are so very appreciative of all those donations.  Thank you ladies!
First two quilts were by Evelyn.

Cheryl brought in the next three quilts.

Helen made 2 flannel wraps and some beanies and scarves.

Fourth of July

The 4th July in the United States commemorates the Declaration of Independence of the United States in 1776.  In Australia it is not a holiday, and we had a busy day at Stitching Hearts.

It was a long meeting starting with a visit by Katie Matthews from Legacy to speak  about their program.  She took 12 lap quilts and we will give her more as needed. We have been invited to attend a morning tea at Rhodes on 26th July. Lesley and Bev will represent the group.  Cheryl and Bev will be attending Grants Night at the Council Chambers, Drummoyne on Thursday 25th July.
Dasha took 11 baby wraps, 18 children’s quilts and 24 beanies for Barnardo’s at Wyong.  They will be delivered on Monday, 15th July.

Louise popped in to donate a bundle of wool and some half finished projects.  This was passed on to Helen.

Maria brought in 3 quilts made by her friend Robyn.  Robyn is very generous and has made a lot of quilts for us.  It would be lovely to meet her one day to thank her in person!

Helen made 5 beanies, and 5 flannel baby wraps.

Evelyn brought in 2 quilts she had made.

Evelyn also quilted 2 quilts.  The first was made by Jill. The second one we think was a donation.

Cheryl also made 2 quilts.

And quilted two.  The first of these was a donation, completed by Evelyn, and quilted by Cheryl

This too, is an unknown maker.  Quilted by Cheryl.

Jan made this whimsical Mushroom Village.

Lesley appliqued the CaraCare logo on 2 more pillow cases.

This one is by an unknown maker.

And lastly, one by Bev.

Second meeting for October 2018

With people away on holidays, and off sick, we were a small group on the 18th when we met.  But what a lovely day we had!

Firstly, Jill brought in a massive donation of gorgeous fabrics from Julie A, a long time friend of the group and supporter, although sadly, she never managed to come to our meetings.  It was difficult to get everything into the photo, so there are two, and even then it's not all she gave us.

What a generous donation!  We had a happy time sorting through all that and stashing it away.  Thank you Julie.

Only a few completed quilts came in today.  Helen has been away overseas for several meetings, but still managed to bring in two flannel wraps, and some beanies and scarves.

Bev made this one, quilted by Cheryl.

The gorgeous applique in the centre block was a donation some time back.  Jan completed it, added borders and Cheryl did a lovely job of quilting it.

Evelyn made this sweet little panel.

Colleen and I went through some of the fabrics donated today, where we found part of a layer cake; added a couple of more fabrics; and created this layout for Colleen to sew up.  Watch this space for an update!

We also selected 9 cot quilts to be given to Barnardos at Wyong.  Their focus is crisis care for 0 - 5 year olds.  Sadly there is a large turnover.

Eagle eyes might have spotted a couple of the quilts that were brought in today, and also several from the lovely ladies in Shepparton.

That's it for today.  Our next meeting is this coming Thursday.
