Our Christmas Meeting

Well, I hadn't intended to report on our last meeting since it was officially a Christmas party and simply a social gathering, but there were 21 completed quilts were brought in, so I took photos of them and they are below.

The quilt count this year was in excess of 450 quilts, with many crocheted items as well.  Plus the 21 quilts which came in this time.  A truly awesome number for a small group.  We could never have achieved that number without the loyal support of several groups of ladies who are not members of Stitching Hearts, but who contribute something to almost every meeting - Trinity Quilters, Hobbysew Group and Friday Quilters.  There are always some donations from individuals throughout the year too.

So here are the quilts:

The first 5 were made by the ladies of Trinity Quilters:

Next two are from Friday Quilters.  The first was made by Lyn:

And this one was made by Sue:

And some flannel baby wraps, beanies and shawls:

A few drawstring bags, with beanies with matching scarves:

Thank you for supporting us by visiting.  Have a wonderful Christmas, and see you in the New Year.

7th November

Wow! What a line up today - there were 36 completed quilts brought in today plus a few other things too.  I don't know what our highest score is for a meeting, but this week there were almost as many quilts on the floor as we get after our summer break.

Last post, I reported that we had given a quilt to Concord Rotary for raffling to raise money for the Concord Hospital Parkinson's Disease Centre.  We have had news that the fashion parade raised $7,000 which is awesome.

We took in a bundle of quilts to the Palliative Care Unit at Concord Hospital, together with a lovely quilt for their silent auction.

The quilt we donated to the Drummoyne pre-school has raised $2,700 in their raffle.

We also heard back from Keith's Closet - a charity supporting those with mental health issues (click here to read a bit more about them).  They would be delighted to receive a few quilts, and in particular are in need of men's and women's clothing in large sizes.

We had quite a few quilts donated to us today.  Firstly, there were 9 quilts from the Trinity Grammar Quilters.  A special thank you to these ladies - they have given us 35 quilts this year.

Fabulous Effort ladies.  Thank you.

Another pair of ladies who have done an enormous amount for us this year are Robyn and Mary, who are part of the Hobbysew Group.  They have given us the following quilts today for our cause.

The last two quilts donated to us this week are from Gillian and Sue, from Friday Quilters.

Here are a pile of flannel wraps, and goodie bags.

And beanies and scarves.

The rest of these quilts were made by our members:

Our Next meeting will be our Christmas party, so unless there are some completed quilts to show you after that, the next post will be mid January.  So have a wonderful Christmas everyone, and see you next year.
