Quilts have been delivered to the Concord Hospital Palliative Care Unit; Kelly from Domestic Violence has offered to come to talk to us; we have donated a quilt to Our Lady of Assumption Primary School for a fund raising raffle, we don't know yet how much was raised; several thank you letters were read out; Lynn from Shepparton in Victoria has offered us 30 quilt tops and a roll of batting - to be handed over at the Quilt Show in June. Wow!; and the Senior Citizens Club will be having a Morning Tea on the 25th June.
Nicole came to give us an inspiring talk about Sanctuary Housing, a local organisation which provides crisis accommodation for women who are homeless, most of whom have experienced domestic violence. The women are referred here either by the Police or through outreach programs, and about 75% arrive with nothing at all from very difficult environments. The project relies heavily on Community awareness and donations to supplement Government funds. Click on the above link to read a bit more about this amazing project.
