Second July Meeting

We met last week for the second July meeting, and it was a big one.  Most of our members were there, and we also had a lot of quilts donated to us.  The first thing we do is have lunch, and when its a big meeting, we have to push several tables together so that we can all fit around it.  It was a bit like herding cats last week - everyone wanted a chat.

We delivered our first bundle of quilts to Allowah, an organisation based in Dundas supporting kids with complex needs for over 70 years.  They were kind enough to post a lovely thank you to our page on Instagram and on Facebook.  Do search for them and take a look at the wonderful work they do.  It's always good do know the quilts we make are so well received.

We had a large bundle of quilts donated to us for distribution to our outlets.  First up were quilts from the Sit and Sew group at Hobbysew.  These have been made by our regular donors Robyn and quilted by Mary:

And this one was made by Sandra:

The next three were donations from Toni:

The next three quilts were donated by ladies from the Friday Quilters.  The first two were made by Lyn, from a kit we had sent to us by Susan U from Pittsworth.  Lyn has actually made three quilts from the fabric in the kit.  he third is being quilted, and I will be able to show it to you when it is complete.

And this one was made by Cheryl.

Here are the woollens.  They will be welcome at the moment, as its mid winter and the nights have been chilly lately.

The rest of the quilts were made by our members.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by to support our little group.

4th of July Stitching Hearts Style

We don't celebrate the American Independence Day here for obvious reasons.  Hope that if you did, it was a great holiday for you with lots of friends and family and food.

Meanwhile, we got together for the first meeting of July.  The most important business conducted was discussion on plans for our 20th anniversary celebrations.  Yep!  We have been going for 20 years.  We actually can't remember when the first meeting was held, but have decided it must have been mid winter in 2004.  One original member and 3 more who joined up within weeks still come to the meetings regularly.

We had some lovely quilts brought in, so enjoy.

First up were two gorgeous quilts given to us by Adele.  Her mother had received a quilt while in the Palliative Care unit at Concord Hospital, and Adele wanted to thank us this way.  This one is quite big, and has an enormous amount of work in it - embroidery, applique etc.

Here is a detail photo of part of the centre panel.

And one of the corners....

This one is quite different, but is also very detailed.

And this was a donation from Toni

This cute butterfly one was made by our sister group, the Monday Quilt Group.

Just look at all the wonderful goodies on the woollens table.

The cutest little dog, with the patch on his eye!

And a bundle of booties, flannel wraps and beanies.

That's all for today.  See you next time.
