Hello 2024

I hope that the Christmas period was a good one for everyone.  Here in Australia, it is the height of summer, and we have had some hot days, some cool ones and a lot of rain everywhere.

After our last meeting, we delivered 13 quilts to Life Skills at Mudgee (4 hours west of Sydney) and quilts, clothes and other items to We Care Connect (on the Central Coast - 1 hour north of Sydney).  We also made a delivery to the Palliative Care Unit at Concord (very close to where we meet).  All of these deliveries were warmly received, and cleared our cupboards completely.

This month we have decided to donate the contents of our "piggy bank" to We Care Connect for their Back to School drive.  We can if we chose to, put a donation into a collection tin during our meetings, the contents of which we donate to various charities as a cash donation periodically, and we call the donations tin our Pig.

January is always a big month for us, with loads of quilts made during the summer holidays coming in, but our meeting last week was the biggest I have seen in the 16 years I have been a member of this group.  We had 51 completed quilts and probably as many quilt tops to finish off.  So prepare yourself for a feast of colour.

First are some quilts made by Jacky B, quilted by Sue R, and donated to the group through one of our members.  These two ladies have made donations previously - thank you ladies!

Lyn L from Friday Quilters made this cute scrappy one:

The next four were made by Robyn.  She has made many, many quilts for us.  Thank you Robyn.

The rest are made by members of the group.  Bravo ladies!!

I thought this was a stunning example of a quilt made with just two fabrics.  Very effective!

I love seeing the same quilt made in a different colourway.  I showed you a couple above made by Robyn, but there were also these two.  Doesn't swapping the colours make things interesting?

Last but definitely not least is a pile of "other" stuff - crochet rugs, scarves & beanies, some bags and a few flannel baby wraps.

I don't generally show you the individual wraps, but this time they are really interesting - they've all been made with left over bits of flannel.  So cute!

A big pat on the back if you have managed to get through to the end of this long post.  Thank you for joining us on this journey.
