First Week of Spring

Here in Australia, the first of September heralds the onset of Spring.  Always an exciting time in the garden.  We met last week and here is what happened.

200 headbands were made for Auburn Hospital by one of our members.  Great effort!

We are donating a quilt to assist a fundraiser in Kiama in aid of local mental health.  The region has had 12 suicides in 3 months all men 14 – 40.  [see the quilt below]

We discussed the possibility of supporting Taldumande Youth which supports vulnerable and homeless children and young people aged 12-21 years, and their families. Although based in Northern Sydney and the Northern Beaches, they support young people from all across Sydney.

And now for the quilts.  Some stunners this week:

Just look at this interesting design!

This quilt was a donation from Lorette, and we chose it to go to the fundraiser in Kiama I mentioned above.

This quilt was a donation from Lynn H from Shepparton Quilters

With summer coming on, there will be a less demand for beanies, but they are still most welcome in the Palliative Care units.

Would you believe that this quilt is made from squares?  It was a pattern from the Missouri Quilt Co. and you will find a free tutorial by clicking here.

Hope you have been inspired to go make something.
