Hello from Western Queensland

Yep.  You read the title correctly.

We have been on the road now for 9 days and we are currently in Charleville, Queensland.  This post was meant to happen quite a few days ago, but the internet is flaky out this way and today is the first time since Wednesday last week that I have had any access at all.

So back to business.  Our little band of stitchers last met on 7 April.  Not sure what got into people, but there was a huge pile of completed quilts came in, and a few tops as well.  So here is our Show and Tell.

This first one was made by Robin and quilted by Cheryl

This sweet little hand pieced hexie quilt started out as a class sample made by Linda Butcher and donated to Stitching Hearts.  Robyn completed it and then quilted it.

This next one is a donation from the ladies at the Trinity School craft group.  When you look closely you'll noticed it is "just" a bunch of squares, but the creative placement is really wonderful, and the result is a stunning quilt.  Robin quilted it.

Robin made the next 4 quilts (told you people had been busy!

Maria made the next one and Robin quilted it.

Each of the blocks in the quilt below made by Ann is made from Australiana fabrics, and most are animals.

Cheryl made this quilt with cars on it.  Perfect for a little boy.

This is Jan's version of Lucy Boston's Quilt of Crosses - all hand made using English Paper Piecing.  Robin had quilted it for her.

Wonderful hand work Jan, and some lovely quilting on it too Robin.  It is not a donation, but will be gracing Jan's bed.

Jan made the next 3 quilts.  The first one is from a pattern by Sarah Fielke.

Aren't these aliens just gorgeous?

And so are these owls....

Some time ago, Jill came in with one of her UFO's she had started years ago.  There was heaps of fabric to go with it.  I made up these blocks which had already been pieced by Jill, into a single bed sized quilt by adding a couple of borders.

There's enough fabric & completed blocks to make up at least 4 more lap quilts.  A very big thank you to Jill for her generosity.

These next two quilts came in a donated queen sized quilt.  I split the big quilt top to make 2 single sized quilts and added borders. Robin quilted them.

This was also a donation.  I added borders to make it bigger and Evelyn quilted it.

This one is an attempt at taming my green 4" square stash.  Still have tons of those!

Evelyn made the next 3.

The inspiration for this one was a painting on a wall in a cafĂ©.  She went home and recreated the design in fabric.  Its brilliant!

No one owned up to making this quilt, but Evelyn quilted it.

Well, that's it.  It might be a while until I can write another post as I will probably have to miss the next two meetings.

Ooroo as they say in the bush....
